When Gary opened the doors to Design South several decades ago, he also opened the doors to the exhibit design, fabrication and service business in the Southeast. At that time, Atlanta was just emerging as the heart of the New South. Design South grew to become the premier exhibit company in the southeast and a global industry player, creating exhibits, events, and environments for many of the world’s leading companies. And as Design South grew, so did Atlanta’s exhibit industry, as well as Gary’s professional reputation. Along with Professor Bret Smith, Gary developed and mentored an exhibit design course that has been used to not only teach the design students about exhibit design and marketing but also to attract major corporations as sponsors to give the students a real world perspective. Gary received the distinguished alumni award from the Auburn School of Architecture and Design for outstanding contribution to the department of Industrial Design. Gary has won numerous awards for Exhibit, Event and Environment Design and Marketing.
